Equilibrio Massage specializes in therapeutic massage for women and their families. We are dedicated to helping women feel empowered in their bodies throughout their lives. We work with women on a range of health issues, and specialize specifically in massage for pregnancy and postpartum. (And, yes, we work with men, too!)

We don't believe in cookie-cutter massages! We believe in listening to you and your body, and designing your massage in consultation with you. Some women come in for a session that is much more focused on relaxation, others need really specific therapeutic work to address particular discomforts. Most women need a little of both. Either way, we are committed to providing you with high quality, safe and nurturing massage sessions designed to meet your specific needs.

Your comfort and safety during the massage are always the most important elements of any session. Our education-focused approach helps you maintain the benefits of massage between sessions, with tips ranging from stretching techniques, to better posture, to strategic uses of pillows while sleeping. Our therapists have completed the most rigorous and recognized prenatal massage preparation in North America, as well as other advanced pregnancy trainings, and to date, have worked with hundreds of pregnant women.

Our Team

Nicole Trombley’s interest in massage developed early in life from hundreds (if not more!) of shoulder rubs and foot massages exchanged with her mom. And while her grandmother always knew she would become a massage therapist, it took Nicole lots of schooling and years in the nonprofit sector before it occurred to her. She left the nonprofit world seeking a caffeine-free lifestyle more balanced between body, mind and spirit. This balance – or “equilibrio” – remains the inspiration for her business and the work she does everyday with her clients.

Much of Nicole’s work focuses on women’s health issues. She is dedicated to helping women feel more empowered in their bodies. She is certified in Pre and Perinatal Massage and has completed advanced training by Carole Osborne-Sheets. Nicole recently trained as a doula through DONA-approved Beautiful Beginnings. She received her foundational training at the International Professional School of Bodywork in San Diego, CA and finished her certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, MA. She is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork and is licensed by the City of San Diego. Nicole is a 200-hr Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance, having completed the “Mind, Body, Spirit Yoga Teacher Training” in Chapel Hill, NC. In 2006, she traveled to Chang Mai, Thailand where she studied Thai Massage, and in 2007, she traveled to Montreal to complete a training in prenatal Thai massage through the Lotus Palm Center.

Nicole holds a BS in Biology from Providence College and a MA in Women’s Studies from the University of Cincinnati. Originally from Keene, NH, Nicole began calling San Diego home in 1998. It took her approximately six months in Southern California before she could redefine "cold" as anything below sixty-five degrees. Prior to her career in bodywork, Nicole worked in the social justice nonprofit sector and continues to volunteer today on the Board of the Foundation for Change here in San Diego.

Marissa Workowski's passion for health and wellness grew out of a unique and lovingly supportive upbringing in the hills of Wisconsin.  Raised off the land – this intimate connection with Nature and being surrounded with family is what has inspired Marissa to work with others in the hope of facilitating these connections and sharing the beauty with them as well! Marissa’s path has been full of adventure bringing with it amazing stories about Life - its joys, its challenges, and especially the ever-increasing need for support and safety in relation to our bodies and our spirits.  At present, San Diego has been home for Marissa for nearly five years, and a life-altering five years it has been.

As a bodyworker, Marissa has developed a desire to help empower women through Self-awareness and trust in our own inner knowing. Women's health and wellbeing is becoming increasingly important in this society. We have so much strength and wisdom to share as we grow and blossom as women.  Marissa has worked extensively with pregnant women supporting them along this path of motherhood. Through her training and experience with clients, Marissa has seen the incredible healing power that is inherent in each one of us.  She has dedicated herself to supporting others on their own journey through this life and in the beautiful bodies we are blessed with through acceptance and love.

Marissa is a nationally certified (NCBTMB) Holistic Health Practitioner.  She graduated from IPSB College, having begun her training in massage and holistic health in 2004.  Her passion for the human body and all of its intricacies led her to explore CranioSacral Therapy under the tutelage of Dorothy Mahrie.  Upon certification in CST, Marissa has continued to further her work and study in this modality by assisting in entry to advanced level classes.  She also studied Western Herbal Medicine through RMCBS in Boulder, CO and is currently enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York, NY.

Faye Hudson handles the administrative tasks of Equilibrio Massage, assisting us from her home on a part-time basis while raising her daughter, Daisy.

After many years of receiving massage therapy for a back injury and also for general wellness, Faye was introduced to Equilibrio Massage as a prenatal client in early 2007. She gave birth to her daughter in June of that year and, reeling from a difficult labor and pre-eclampsia, continued on to receive healing through post-partum massage.  She continues to enjoy regular massage therapy and is happy to assist a company dedicated to bringing the myriad health benefits of massage to expectant mothers and their families.

Originating from northern California, Faye majored in Drama and Music at San Francisco State University. She subsequently moved to New York City for 6 years where she produced theatre and met her future husband. Seeking a California lifestyle again, they moved to San Diego in 2003.
